Great News of First Grade – Week of January 12, 2015

Dear Families,

Our hard-working first graders are off to a great start in the New Year.  They deserve a great deal of praise for their efforts in class.

Winter weather is upon us, so please send a hat, gloves/mittens, scarf, and snow boots if necessary.  I will be sure to help the children bundle up before they face the icy wind and snow.  If your child wears snow boots to school, please be sure to include a pair of shoes in his/her backpack.

Our weekly spelling words are:  he, she, me, I, hi, go, no, when, your, can.  Thank you for helping your child prepare for our spelling test on Friday.  A reminder extra credit points can be earned by printing any misspelled words five times.

Tentative homework assignments for this week are:

MONDAY – English skills activity

TUESDAY – Math practice activity

WEDNESDAY – Spelling Order In The Court activity

THURSDAY – Math practice activity, study for spelling test

FRIDAY – No Homework — Have a great weekend!

A reminder there is no school on Monday, January 19 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.

Thank you for your help in making first grade a positive experience for your child.  Have a wonderful week.  Stay warm and safe.

Mrs. Virginia Toomey
