Great News of First Grade – Week of February 9, 2015

Dear Families,

Our first graders continue to make great progress.  This week all of our stellar spellers scored 100% on their spelling test!  As a special reward, our class will not have homework on Monday or Tuesday.  This was a real hit in first grade:)  Thank you for helping your child prepare for our weekly tests.  Your time and effort have a positive impact on your child’s academic success.

A sincere thank you for your generous donations to our first-grade raffle basket.  One very lucky winner will be thrilled to receive many restaurant gift cards and cash.

A few reminders to help you plan your week.  Our class will attend mass on Wednesday morning.  Please make every effort for your child to arrive promptly to school to enable us to arrive at church by 8:00 a.m.  Friday is a Valentine Dress Down Day and candy grams will be delivered in time for Valentine’s Day.

Your child may bring cards and individually wrapped treats to share with classmates.  We have 17 children in class.  Due to food allergies, please do not send baked goods or treats with peanuts.  These will not be distributed in class.

The following are words for our spelling test on Friday:  fly, by, sly, try, spy, my shy, their, if, will.

Thank you for  all you do to make first grade a rewarding experience for your child.  Have a wonderful week and HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY.
