Great News of First Grade – Week of February 2, 2015

Dear Families,

Our very special first graders continue to work very hard learning and applying new concepts.  I am so very proud of their efforts in class — they deserve a great deal of praise for their hard work!  Thank you for your at-home reinforcement of skills.  Your time and effort have a positive impact on your child’s success in school.

Another round of thanks for your generous donations to our class Super Bingo raffle basket – “Cook’s Night Out”.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

The winter weather has come with a vengeance!  Boot weather is definitely back:)  If your child wears boots to school, please be sure to send shoes for your child to wear during the day.  Also, I ask that children be able to tie shoelaces for safety reasons.  This important skill is not covered in the classroom.

This week’s spelling list is:  day, may, way, stay, spray, pay, say, she, do, how.  Thank you for helping your child prepare for our weekly test on Friday.

A reminder that we have mass on Monday and Friday mornings this week.  Please be sure your child arrives at school promptly to allow time to walk to church by 7:55 a.m.

Thank you and have a wonderful week.  Stay safe and warm.

Mrs. Virginia Toomey
