A Letter from the Principal

August 1, 2014

Dear St. Rene Goupil School and Parish Community,

My name is Robert Gawlik. I am very proud to introduce myself as the new Principal of St. Rene Goupil School. It is truly an honor and a privilege to have been selected by Fr. Tom and the members of the Principal Search Committee for this opportunity to continue the already well established task of promoting the academic, social, and spiritual growth of all the children of St. Rene Goupil. I would personally like to offer my congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Maurer for all the dedication she has given the school over the past year. It is my goal to continue improving upon the wonderful foundation she has already established.

I am a strong advocate of Catholic school education. I have been a member of the Archdiocese of Chicago since my first day of preschool. As an educator for the Archdiocese of Chicago, I was a junior high classroom teacher for twenty-five years. I also served as a part time Assistant Principal for two of those years. I was a full time Assistant Principal for one year and a School Principal for three years. My entire life has centered upon living according to the will of God. This is a life-long goal that was implanted in me by my parents, who lived their lives serving the school and parish community in my childhood neighborhood. While my primary role at St. Rene Goupil will be to maintain and then improve upon the already well established curriculum and spiritual life of the students and their families, I am also very excited about my chance to be involved with the school and parish’s social events and the school’s extracurricular activities. I hope that my enthusiasm towards school life will inspire the current students to view St. Rene Goupil as their second home long after they graduate. It is also my intention to spread the word about St. Rene Goupil School to the outlying community in order to welcome as many new families as possible.

Don’t forget… The first day of the 2014-2015 school year is Tuesday, August 19th. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope you will stop by and say hello. With the exception of those times when I am handling confidential school matters, my office door will remain open. In the meantime, best wishes to all of you.

Mr. Robert A. Gawlik
